Could there be a connection between Syphilis and Mass Covid Vaccination?

It is critical to be ahead of the science during these post pandemic periods as there are health implications to understand.

The latest federal data shows there were nearly 14,000 cases of infectious syphilis across the country in 2022, as well as 117 instances of early congenital syphilis. That's a nearly 15-fold increase from just eight nation-wide cases of syphilis reported in infants five years earlier.

Note that the rates of syphilis are rising consistently over the past few years. There is a steep increase after 2021 which could coincide with the vaccination programme.

If the increase in syphilis was related to increased sexually transmitted diseases, it should parallel with a rise in other STD’s like gonorrhea and chlamydia. The figure demonstrates that this is not the same.

Similar trends are also noted in the United States with rising syphilis cases and falling cases of other STD’s.

A granuloma is part of an immune response to contain infection or limit tissue damage. Especially important with bacteria that are difficult to digest by immune cells. Examples of diseases with granulomas are TB and syphilis.

Dysregulated immune responses could cause reactivation of specific bacterial infections.

TB cases rise in England

Figures published today by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) in its TB annual report, show that tuberculosis cases in England in 2022 were stable compared to 2021 (4,380 in 2022 compared to 4,411 in 2021).

However, additional provisional data indicate that cases of tuberculosis (TB) in England rose by 10.7% in 2023 compared to 2022 (4,850 compared to 4,380). The rise signals a rebound of TB cases to above the pre-COVID-19-pandemic numbers.
