Dr. Shelton is right. Somehow the medical profession MUST regain its once-prized independence. My grandfather was a GP, trained in Australia in the early 1900s and eventually president of the BMA in Australia. He would never have allowed any government to dictate to him what advice he could give patients or what treatment he could use or withhold - never. To practice ethically, the doctor must have professional autonomy. Doctors must fight to get their independence back.
