In my opinion, the pandemic was shaped by three primary factors.
Firstly, the dissemination of misinformation related to science and health.
Secondly, the insufficient support provided by medical professionals.
Thirdly, an increased focus on the risk of mortality.
Individuals with comprehensive medical histories, enduring physical discomfort, or weakened immune systems faced heightened psychological stress and physical trauma. This led to responses governed by PTSD triggered by pain. This condition hindered their ability to think logically or empathize with others, as their limbic system, notably the amygdala which plays a key role in memory, signaled the addition of new pain atop existing PTSD challenges. When overwhelmed by PTSD, logical reasoning and empathy are often beyond reach.
The fear experienced by these individuals extended beyond COVID-19, encompassing the dread of enduring further pain or facing death. For many, the pathological impacts of COVID-19 appeared to validate their fears.
However, a subset of individuals found that anger served as a constructive defense mechanism. This feeling helped to eliminate fear and allowed for a reevaluation of their circumstances. Those without traumatic memories or PTSD were better able to identify the manipulative forces that had persuaded the public to embrace the concept of a pandemic.
A good discussion of how fear influences us. The response to covid was definitely more damaging than the virus, same goes for 9/11, and I don't see anyone in my circle of, now former, acquaintances showing an interest in changing this.
I will add some more points on how I felt the pandemic took shape.

By early 2021, quite a few viral phase treatment trials were being reported and published, involving old school medicines like Ivermectin, HCQ, Azithromycin, Levocetrizine and other anti histamines and a few others. These reports were certainly one basis why many countries began changing course to early treatments instead of vaccinations in 2021 - clinically the most appropriate and rewarding decision.
8. The official West never appreciated, even looked at this strategy, having embraced the m-RNA vaccines and anti virals like Paxlovid, the population getting a bad deal in the bargain - unending infections, mortality etc. That is their story since vaccinations began in 2021. There was even official embargo’s on such old school treatments and the few doctors venturing out too faced embargoes on practising..
9. There was official acceptance of the open science that since 2021, the population have been harbouring two competing ( or complimentary) biologies from repeat infections and repeat vaccinations. As long covid, the poor virus was assigned to bear the long haul totally, while the vaccine producing a very similar antigen was given a reprieve of any role in the long haul, an after effect consuming only the West predominantly. This story is still on play there.
10. This could be the first time in medical history some compelling population level science is being officially discounted. This has also created a vertical split in the population on their views about the official protocols and advices. This is a very unfortunate state
of affairs, even as the virus continues to enjoy a gifted extension of stay in the West, when many countries drove it away nearly two years ago.
My take on the shaping of this pandemic in terms of anectodes and events would be as follows:
1. The virus break out in early 2020 was a waiting opportunity for the big pharma to unpack their wares on the vaccine and anti virals.
2. For the world unnerved by China’s moves including shutting itself and the awe of an unknown virus, the straw to hold onto was the promise of vaccines and new anti virals.
3. Technically both were unnecessary as the most respiratory symptoms were amenable to early treatments with known RT medicines. But medical administrations world over were led to believe that without a new anti viral, this virus cannot be stopped in individuals. Why, created by whom and under what considerations this thinking came to prevail, we don’t know. But this was the whole undoing.
4. With only prayers for early vaccines and new anti virals in everyone’s lips, those many who could not ride their luck in the viral phase with the official recommendation of acetaminophen and water went into hospitals, where the presentation of strange pneumonia, with sudden onsets bamboozled the doctors. So all trials were with just a single anti inflammatory which was adequate in some and inadequate in many.
5. No one and no one, has offered an explanation so far why a new anti viral was a necessity for the viral phase with three quarters of its symptoms classical. And in its absence, stay in despair. This abandonment of the viral phase was the cause for heavy mortality around the world ( not all countries, though) in 2020 and in the first half 2021. The west, which has stayed on with this illogical clinical approach to this day, continues to be bitten by this virus, the Omicron variants. Others, mostly third world countries, who changed course in mid 2021 and went massively for early treatment options with classical drugs, had buried this virus almost completely by mid 2022, some of them even shrugging off a brief, massive Omicron invasion.
